Day 13-15 Hannibal, Missouri   2 comments

Home of Samuel Langhorne Clemens, better known as “Mark Twain.” Mark Twain’s “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” drew on his youth in Hannibal, as well as a little bit about his two schoolmates, John Briggs and Will Bowen. He went on to write “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” which was based on his boyhood friend, Tom Blankenship.

After our trolley ride through the area, we visited the home and museum of Mark Twain.

Becky Thatcher’s house is picture below. She was the “wealthy” sweetheart of Tom Sawyer.

Below is Huckleberry Finn’s home and Tom Sawyer’s infamous fence.

Remember the story? Tom Sawyer persuaded his gang to “PAY HIM” for the “privilege” of whitewashing the fence. Tom just sat by to make sure it was done correctly.

As we drove to our destination, Hannibal, it looked like the weather was going to clear up. However, it brought a cold front!

SOUTH HERE WE COME!
